I would bet money you make it on an earlier flight. Worst case you gat a middle seat but on that short of a flight who cares. You should now be given an option to get on the standby list using online check-in.
Something to consider. If the flight is really empty (I think lass than 70%) you will be put on the flight automatically at the airport and actually have a chance at F. Doubt the online version would do that but maybe.
