That would've been X.E.S, on 24th b/w 6th and 7th Aves. Nice place to start the night... and great for smokers since there's a nice outdoor area/patio in the back.
Like I said in a previous post, my favorite place is 1984 @ Pyramid, it's an 80's party in the East Village, on Friday nights.
It all depends on the night you are going out and the type of place you are looking for, low-key? dance club? leather? twinks? etc... there are lots of options.
