As you read it, the room type guarantee is really just a "we won't screw up" guarantee. In other words, if the hotel promises you a specific room type, they'll give you that room type. I would hope that this is the case for all guests, not just elites.
Thats why I know people who put everything into the comment section, since otherwise if Doubles arent showing as being available and they book a King, hows the hotel to know they wanted Doubles just cause its in their profile? So they add it in the comment section so that the res will be stating Doubles.

Cant count the number of times Ive overheard a conversation at the FD where the people were complaining about not getting what they reserved. It can happen for all sorts of reasons a person didnt check out for whatever reason and I was preassigned that room and now none of that type is available.
