I've been renting on some weekends (mostly out of ORD) and have noticed a bit of variance on the selection in the Emerald Aisle / Executive Selection based on what time I pick up the car. I'm guessing this has a lot to do with how many employees are working and actively bringing out new cars to the aisles. Here are my observations from my handful of rentals

Friday 3pm: Good selection, lot mostly full - been able to get a Highlander and S40 from exec aisle
Friday 5:30am: Mediocre selection, but still wound up with a G6 GTP
Thursday 11:30pm: Horrible - only thing left was 1 Taurus, 1 Rendezvous, or many minivans. This was also a day of bad weather in ORD - lots of cancellations so I think many people were renting cars.

Of course it varies by airport, but my guess is the employees bringing out the cars don't work too late (or too early). It seems the best time for weekend rentals may be early Friday afternoon when selection is good and before too many people arrive for weekend trips? Thoughts?
