ANZ visa again - now they really are crazy
OK so we all know that ANZ changed the rules and we adjusted our planned useage of their cards accordingly and then when renewal time comes around we opt out.
All their advertising said that the new limits take place on 1st November right? Well as it turns out, not exactly.
I had carefully planned my spending in the last month so that come 1st Nov I move spending across to my CBA visa where I will still get 1 point per dollar, and watch spending on ANZ to keep under $1500.
I have just received my ANZ statement today Total spend for the statement was $2070.00.
$858.00 of that was pre 1st November. The balance was after 1st November = $1212
By my calculations I should be earning the full 2070 points but they are only paying 1785 in total.
Their statement actually says "points earned prior to 1st Nov are paid at the old rate" but that is not actually what they are doing.
A phone call to their help line said that the rest of the statement (dated Nov) looks at how much you had spent in Oct and just adds that into their calculation and pays under the new rate.
I stated people must be screaming at them about this because nowhere in their advertising did it state that the scheme changed from 24th October (the start of my statement period). Of course they said no one had complained.
I'm now waiting for a call back from the supervisor.
If banks were any other organisation or company, consumers would just not stand for it.
What a bunch of Bankers!
