If a car had fly-by-wire, you'd turn the steering wheel and a computer would direct the wheels to turn. You'd lose most of the direct feedback that you get in traditional steering.
But from what I hear, fly-by-wire planes have resistance artificially induced & controlled by the computers so it still feels as though you're flying a real plane.
