The clubs offer them as a way to tide people over between flights, but are not meant as meal replacements. Thinking and expecting as much is just silly.

Asian destinations usually offer more extensive and substantial choices because the flights are longer, so people connecting are likely more hungry than your average domestic U.S. traveler who is only on board for 3 hours or so, but usually less.
