Value?

I travel MEL-CHC frequently, and a recent crossing of the ditch last week got me to thinking about the Qantas value proposition and the variance in service offered.

The difference in the quality of each plane's fittings and features continues to amaze. Last week I was subjected to what i can only assume was the oldest 737 in the fleet, travelling on a J ticket MEL-CHC.

The CHC-SYD was also in J and was a 767. I connected to QF 2 for SYD-MEL, a pre-sky bed 747.

Vastly different experiences, non over and above, with some facets below acceptable. The list of differences is long and noticable.

On each segment the pricing is fixed, regardless of the metal being flown, yet the level of service and ammenity are far from standard. Given the current pricing ($2500) for J, and the variability in the product, I am questioning the "value" for money I receive from QF.

I open a $1.50 can of coke and get the same product, day in day out. A $2500 TV purchase is the same today as next week. Get my point????
