Of the two I would take the Hilton only because it is closer to shopping both at Eaton's Centre on Yonge (think national retailer chain-store clothing operations) and the trendy Queen Street West shopping/club/restaurant area (think Grunge/alt-rock etc. one-off boutiques as this is the heart of the music industry). The ritzier (think Rodeo Drive, big-name designer stores like Cartier/Prada as this is the movie industry area) Yorkville/Bloor West shopping/restaurant area is only 4 short subway stops away (assuming you board at Queen at University).

To me the Intercontinental (Centre) is just a little out-of-the-way from things especially at night. Anything nearby is geared towards conventioneers.
