BUMP to today! Not a bad thread, so it might be worth an update. Mahalo.

Aside from bringing a set of jeans/fleece for VNP and Mauna Kea (?) night-time cold weather, what is the suggested minimum items to pack, for Big Island and Kauai?

As we will have a laundry at Waikoloa we will try to travel light(ish).

I need any Ent Book, to get the Hilton Entertainment rate.
Can I find a bargain on one in Kona, or even HNL or KOA airports? I only need the card.
^ ^ (Perhaps my friend here will loan me his).

Is it worth our while arranging a Costco gift card for gas in Kauai?
How much does a week of driving Kauai cost in terms of gas for a medium size car - enough to buy gas at costco? I suppose I could join then unjoin but that's not nice.

For my HI friends (and those friends we're yet to meet )...
- I'd like to bring some little pieces of Australiana with us - Aussie sweets and other small comestibles are possibilities.
- tinkybelle asked me to return a cursed, stolen HI rock! Yes, we are aware of the stories - andmay still return it, if we are given it.

Freedom baggies - Dos and Donts...
We will mostly avoid packing liquids in carry-on. What liquids should we pack as carryon, aside from a small roll-on deodorant and the like? Will have to buy duty free water as QF/JQ is very mean with drinks, normally.

Any other unusual item suggestions?
