But the 24 hour rule gives everyone an equal* chance to select those seats. Otherwise whoever buys their ticket first would have dibs on those seats.


* It's not exactly equal because whoever begins their itinerary the earlierst has the first chance to check in and therefore snag those seats, but it's pretty close and I think it's fair enough because that only applies to connecting flights.
