Well, I agree that 2A / 2K are the better seats - it's just a shame they can't rename them 1A and 1Aa respectively...

Let's admit it, at the end of the day the unspoken joy of travelling F isn't the absolute comfort of the experience (it's substantially less agreeable than lounging on the sofa at home) but the fact that there are 400 ....ers sitting behind you in varying degrees of lesser comfort. If you're a Sun King, or some lesser form of pond life like the rest of us, it is a (negative but true) human characteristic to take some pleasure from that. 1A just says you're king of the castle - you're Alpha! First! Numero Uno! you're A1! - in a way that 2A or 2K never can.

Of course, BA know very well what a bunch of tragic aspirational tossers we all are - hence the four cabin structure which plays to our sense of fine socioeconomic distinctions.

The pleasure of F is somewhat lessened these days by the fact that the real players are all travelling in rather greater style on their G-5s, although this is such a solipsistic treat it can only really be validated by bragging about it in bars upon arrival.
