It isn't just terminology "used on FT." "Walking" someone to another hotel is the standard terminology used in the industry when this scenario occurs.

And (as has been discussed in many threads on the subject, including the one cited a few posts above), at the very least, the guest should expect one night's free accommodation at another hotel; and if staying more than one night, a rate guarantee is in order as well (i.e., the alternate accommodation should cost no more than that originally booked). Sometimes, transportation, phone calls, MORE than one night's free accommodation, and/or other perks, are provided. It's unfair to attack anyone for wanting "excessive" compensation in such situations, IMO. Being "walked" can often lead to huge inconvenience for the customer. @:-) I'm kind of surprised that they would walk someone on a prepaid reservation, and I agree that they should refund the prepayment.
