Any idea the frequency or type of bird they will be using to operate this flight? And to prevent criticizm by other FTers, will flights qualify for status miles (based on the fact AC is handling the flight)?

RJ have just become a member of Oneworld so you won't be getting Aeroplan miles from them. On the other hand you can get status miles in any Oneworld program, such as AA AAdvantage or BA Executive Club.
RJ's current longhaul fleet consists of A330's and A340's.
