The other thing to consider is that with the higher loads on a 332 - compared to a 762 or a 763 - turnaround times have increased, even taking into account the dual airbridges installed to cater for them. With the greater underfloor space for cargo, it was also taking longer to load and unload all of this stuff.

They were just spending far too much time on the ground between short flights, something which is not as much of an issue on long-hauls.
