We almost always sit in row one, so if I am wanting something, I am likely to just get up, walk into the galley and ask for it. That way the FA clearly knows I want something, and has a choice to respond or continue reading, napping, knitting, or whatever. If s/he jumps up and takes care of my needs, problem solved.

If they resist, well then would be the time to file a report. FWIW, I have never had an FA decline a request. There have, however, on international flights been occasions when I couldn't find an FA to save my soul. On those occsions, I simply served myself as best I could.

What could they do? Report me for being unable to find an FA who was awake and working when I needed water?
