I switched to Delta from United when I moved to New York from Chicago. I probably would have gone with American, but it doesn't have direct flights from NYC to RIC or CHO, a route that I travel often. American has a beautiful new terminal at JFK, while Delta is still working out of a Pan Am-era edifice that's woefully inadequate and uncomfortable. Not much of a distinction at LGA, though.
