I'm right-handed, so if I'm seated on the left side of the aircraft, the drink is dangerously close to dozens of swinging, swaying purses, briefcases and totes whose owners are paying closer attention to their boarding pass, children, etc. On the armrest, all I worry about is my seatmate, large or small.
