Question "Due to the plane still being catered, the first class cabin will board last."

That's exactly what was announced today, Sunday, upon boarding of DL107 out of JFK to Seattle. And there was no zone boarding; it was by rows starting with the rear, like in the old days. The equipment was a converted Song 757 with the IFE and boarding was taking place through the forward door.

I didn't understand that. Why board everybody else, who all had to walk through first class, if we couldn't board first class because the plane was still being catered? So naturally, as soon as we in first class boarded, we were ready for takeoff so no drinks.

Has this happened to anyone else and why would this occur?

And what the hell happened to zone boarding?
