The 38" standard seats are the number one reason a lot of my colleagues avoid CO on transcons, esp the redeyes. AA/UA all have full footrests, intl config. on their primary transcons. Problem is, CO doesn't have a dedicated subfleet for transcons like AA/UA.

Virgin America is following that model w/ single-aisle Airbus planes w/ 55" inch pitch, full recline, leg rests, etc:
