It depends. In My experience , most domestic portions of international flights do have seat assignments. Most agents do try and insist that they do not do them for it and you do need to press them into it. Speaking to the international res staff often helps.

Have a look at www.seatmap.com and see if it is showing a seat map for the day you are travelling. I picked a random date and it has , so for that day at least it does have pre-selection
