PIT was absolutely one of the best airports in the US. Easy connections, wide corridors with plenty of room, great services and amenities, and courteous people. As a frequent US Airways traveler who lives in Charlotte, the demise of PIT as a hub demonstrates makes air travel less enjoyable and demonstrates US Airway's complete disregard for the convenience of the passenger when selecting hubs.
Charlotte is over crowded, poorly managed, and was never designed to handle the volume of traffic US Airways pumps through it. Using the mens room on a Sunday evening around 8:30 gives one the distinct impression they are at a rock concert.
Although recently remodeled, Philadelphia also has too many flights, is serviced by the least helpful people in the US, and suffers from the runway problems that are well known.
