On the SPG forum, you will see a lot of either love or hate reviews of the place, but I felt the interior was well updated and clean.
The Dylan Hotel was our second choice as it also has a good location. Chose Pulitzer because we were able to still book it as a category 4.
Enjoy your trip
I'll second The Pulitzer. My partner and I stayed there for four nights on our trip to Europe year before last and it definitely had the best beds and bathroom of any hotel we stayed at. The hotel's location definitely was a plus, being set on one of the nicest canals in Amsterdam.
