From February on, my reservation was shown as "ticketed" on AA.com. In late March I decided I needed to delay the start until late June and phoned with that information. It still reads as "ticketed" with the new itinerary but no charge has yet been made against my credit card. I assume that the charge will not be made until just before I am due to pick up the ticket but no one has stated that directly.
I've had airline ticket charges (from out of the U.S.) take a couple of months to show up on my c/c, so they may or may not have done enough to consider the tickets sold. You might want to clarify that with them - if they haven't "sold" the tickets and something changes (e.g. the price) you probably would be out of luck.
If they haven't charged you one reason might be that their policy requires that they get your physical signature within X days after they run the charge - Cathay/CMB at one time had a 10-day maximum.
