will not become an elite in 15 days!
Your friend must either be Elite or SuperElite, or he must be travelling with an Elite or a SuperElite on the same flight who is willing to burn one of their own extremely valuable SSWU on him. It wouldn't do any good for a non-traveller to give him a cert as they aren't transferable.

AC is pretty decent YYZ-LHR. He'll survive.
