It is time for all of these airlines to take MKE seriously. Airtran is the only airline to express interest in growing our airport (and that includes Midwest air, were "tapped out" remember).
Then there's no barrier to entry for AirTran, Southwest, or anyone else. Most airport authorities would welcome the entry. And it's a LOT cheaper to start new service in a market than it is to buy a company (that's a decision I make every day in a "services" business for a living). And IIRC, AirTran needs a place to put airplanes.
There must be SOME reason that AirTran prefers to buy YX and it's market presence as opposed to starting up at MKE. What do YOU think it is?
