Did the FA open the door to get the seat?

The Proper FA response should have been, I am sorry but that middle seat is empty by FAA regulation and your children are ticketed as Lap Children and must be held securely for the duration of the flight. If you would prefer, we can retrieve the car seat for you for the safety of 1 of your children, but we will have to charge you for the seat, which can be done at the destination by the Gate Agent so as not to delay the flight. How does that sound?
