While I don't smoke and I can't stand my clothes and body smelling like smoke, I don't have a problem with a smoking section or car so long as
a) I don't need to walk through it to get to another section of the train
b) The smoke does not travel from the smoking car to another
That said, if people want to smoke, I don't have a problem with them having a seperate section for it. Granted, I don't think they should drag their kids into the smoking car with them.
Experience tells me that Europeans in general seem to smoke more than what I am used to (Americans), so I wonder if this will actually be able to withstand the first few months. I see mass migrations of people off the trains at the DB platforms at stops to get their nicotine fix for the 2-3 minutes that the train is in the station and then getting back on.
