Interesting. The Hotel Monaco in DC is about five blocks from my office and I pass it all the time on the way to hockey games. Never stayed there, obviously, but a few years ago we had a new partners' orientation here in DC and the firm put up the partners from other offices at that hotel and they all spoke highly of it. The restaurant (Poste) has gotten some decent reviews; Ms1995hoo and I thought it was OK, certainly not bad but not outstanding. It's on our list to try again because we normally give places at least two tries.

The service was one of the things my colleagues spoke highly about at that hotel, along with the heated canopy over the entryway (the Californians didn't seem chuffed to be in DC on a January weekend with single-digit temperatures).
