You can't go wrong with the Bose QC2 (Around the ear) or the QC3 (On top of the ear). Its a top notch product.
However, I did the research and found that the Solitude LINX NC Headphones are just as good and significantly cheaper than the QC2s.
I bought a pair and I have absolutely no complaints.
But I don't see how the Bose or the Solitudes would be good for sleeping. For one, they're too big. Two, they don't block all noise. They just block background "white noise" that is all too common on airliners.
