No, actually it's all very scientific like, as laid out by the world famous quantum physicist, Dr. Jack S.:

Novice - Don't know Jack

Intermediate - Have heard of Jack and studied a concept or two of his, but still wonder what it's all about

Advanced - Have met Jack and picked up some decent chops from him, but still strive to be more like him. Occasionally, Jack may defer to you for some lesser important gigs

Expert - You are Jack

As for me: 32y/o. In my work, advanced, but find it boring/less challenging as time goes on, so I'm leaving it for something that classifies me as waay novice. As for downhill skiing, I like to think I'm advanced, and can play with the big boys, but I'm probably more intermediate
