Seating Selection Problems, Suddenly it makes sense

I am not sure if this has been picked up on any of the other threads on a similar topic. I have been playing around with seating selection for an upcoming flight with my GF to MAN. As usual I cannot select row 1 at all, usual try 24 hours before departure SSCI etc. etc.

I then started experimenting with where I could select seats. After finding an exit row I could select 2 seats there after ticking the "exit disclaimer" box. I could then move 1 PAX to row 1 (or almost anywhere else I wanted to). I could not move the 2nd PAX becuase immediately after I did so, the Emergency Exit Disclaimer Box disappeared. It certainly seems to me that I cannot select row 1 because BA IT erroneously "sees" this as an exit row, and thus even as a Gold I cannot access without ticking the "able bodied and willing to assist" check box.
