If so, how long should I allow for that? Right now I've got a 2 hour connection on a Sunday morning.

thx
If AF agrees to check your bags through to TN (which I believe they will, because Air Tahiti Nui is both a Flying Blue and a code-share partner for AF), then you will have no trouble at all with your bags, they will be forwarded automatically to your flight to LAX. There is no exit customs check in the Schengen zone, so there's no need for you to collect your bags in Paris.

There is, however, an exit immigration check when going to a non-Schengen country (i.e. the US), but this does not concern your luggage. You will need a boarding pass from your TN flight to be allowed past immigration though, so you'll probably have to go landside after your first flight to check in unless the transfer desk at CDG can do it. There will also be a secondary security check (required for all US-bound flights).

All in all, I would say 2 hours should be OK, even in the mess that is CDG.
