Here's just one example to prove this wrong:

IN ONE CALENDAR YEAR:

JFK-PBI-JFK on Delta:
1,028 miles each way x 2 r/t = 2,056 + 500 r/t online bonus = 2,556 total
25,000 miles for a free r/t ticket in coach in the continental U.S.
/2,556 miles per JFK-PBI-JFK trip flown when booked online =
9.7 or 10 TRIPS....in other words, you need to fly a total of 10 round trips (that's 20 one ways) between these two airports.

JFK-PBI-JFK on jetBlue:
4 points each way x 2 r/t = 8 + 8 r/t online bonus = 16 total
100 points for a free r/t ticket in coach (but much better than DL) to any jetBlue destination
/16 points per JFK-PBI-JFK trip flown when booked online =
6.25 or 6 TRIPS...in other words, you need to fly a total of 6 round trips (that's 12 one ways) between these two airports.

So, with jetBlue you need to fly 4 LESS roundtrips between NY and FL in a calendar year than with DL. This does not even include bonus points with the credit card or OLCI bonus points (when that promo is run about once a year).
Okay, but what about short haul (JFK-BOS, JFK-PWM)... That is what I was referring to. The business frequent flyer that makes many short haul trips. (Only 2 points each way, 4 for online)..
