If the only criteria are seats/service/meals, then I suppose you also can consider the CX flight from JFK-YVR. This entails a delightful Y-only American Eagle BOS-JFK flight, the convenience of a 1:40am arrival in Vancouver, and then a charming 4-hour layover in a deserted YVR airport (where, presumably, none of the lounges would be open). Plus, you'd get to go through immigration and customs twice in Vancouver -- once for Canada, once for the US.
But the CX seats are nice enough and the service is unbeatable.
