Just a quick update.

Seems we have finally won the right to collect our 250 EUR each. It's taken almost 4 months and quite a few letters, but the key seemed to be asking them to prove their position (The EU regulation does put the onus on the carrier to do so). I suspect we also probably won due to a war of attrition.

I should add that my e-mails were always friendly and all the responses I got back from the carrier's representative were friendly which might have been the final factor that sealed the deal. As mentioned in another recent thread, it always pays to be nice!
