I recently postponed a EWR-HKG itinerary by two weeks. It was an H fare that included a $100 change fee. The re-booked fare (also H) was about $50 higher than I originally paid, and without me asking they waived the fee because of the higher fare.

Oh, and I got the holy grail of a confirmed upgrade at booking time, which I will be enjoying in a few hours.
