The whole "red carpet" thing is ridiculous. I was in the economy line last week at IAD (I'm only 1P and wasn't upgraded) and it was fun to hear how many folks in the line with me were making fun of the tiny little red carpet. To me, it's pretty pathetic. YMMV
I've said this since the beginning. For the amount of $ they spent on this stupid thing (I'm a 1K) they could have used it for oh. . .IN FLIGHT SERVICE AMENITIES!!! or. . .STAFF PAY. . or ANYTHING else that actually enhances the flight experience.
