Using aa.com to book CX?

I did a search here ansd was unable to find an answer.

My goal is to fly JFK-YVR on CX for cheap and accrue AAdvantage miles.

Checking aa.com, I got a fare total of $514.69 for this fare basis(HWE14NYC).

Checking Cathaypacific's site, I got a best fare of... $369.16 (for low econ L)

Assuming I am comparing apples to apples, the L and H fares from the respective sites are NOT equal, right?

And so if I book that $396 fare on CX.com, am I screwing myself out of the miles I want? Also, how can I verify that the aa.com fare is indeed allowing me to accrue miles on aadvantage?

PLease help me clear my confusion. I apoligze for any tyops missed. The baby was on my other arm and getting impatient

Oh, he's back to sleep now.

On addendum,: If I book the same flight on Orbitz, can I accrue my aadvantage miles from an Orbitz booking?
