Nice link
planluvr. I especially like this quote:
- "A spokesman said the chancellor had taken into account economic and social as well as environmental factors . . He said the Air Passenger Duty was not a tax on passengers but a tax on airlines for the number of passengers they carry. It was up to the airline to decide whether they pass that levy on to passengers."
It's nice to see that the politicians in the UK can talk the same BS that their American counterparts do. Just what does Mr. Brown think the airlines will do about an $80 tariff on a coach seat back to America? Cha-ching cha-ching!
He'd be more honest to say that the Air Passenger Duty is not a tax on passengers -- it's a wallet biposy!
Folks should indeed beware of the increasingly prohibitive cost to fly an UG or GoEnvoy from LGW-PHL or LGW-CLT -- $160.
Who knows, people got ticked off at tea taxes 240 years ago. Maybe this time it will be over airline tarrifs.
