I used one of my Chairman's UG Certificates last year to go to Rome and I took my parents with me. As a pre-holiday surprise I bought both of them Go Envoy upgrades at the 30 hour mark. US made sure we were seated near each other and my parents were very happy with the upgrade. Both of them are in the 70's so having the extra room and nice meal was appreciated. The FAs also really went out of their way to make sure that we were all well taken care of. My mom actually started to get sick and the FA moved her up to Row 1 so she could lie down and get some sleep (which I thought was very nice). I think if you have the money, it is worth the cost.
