As suggested I pulled the previous 2 days flights from BHM-ATL and ATL-SJO. BTW, BHM has been departing and arriving about 5 min. early, so maybe that trend will continue.

It appears BHM-ATL has been coming into A, and ATL-SJO has been leaving from the T-gates(not E).

I know that the T-gates are next to A, so I would assume walking would be easier than the train for this connection.

If we do end up having to go from A or B all the way to E, is walking or taking the train the faster option??
