I would reccomend going down town as you will have 26 hours in Shanghai. Hotels on the PuDong side will be more convenient to PVG. Taxis are cheap and the Maglev is also an option (but not the most convenient option).

The Ramada is ok, but a bit pricy for the quality.

NOTE: LOOK for a VISA desk BEFORE you go through customs and immigration. That is where they give out the transit visas.
