My 2 cents on the matter. As a long time eater of fish and chips in the UK, I'd say the best place to go for fish and chips is a fishing port.

Theres nothing better than having freshly caught fish in thick batter with fresh chips at a fishing port.

It's got to the stage now where I can't stand local fish and chips because they're so greasy and fatty. Fresher the better is my advice =)
