Nope, am mainly comparing with other trains.

I travelled Euston-Nottingham recently in F, not sure if it was Virgin, but it was a comfortable, hassle free journey, and the views were fine. I think I would prefer the train for purely domestic travel.
Nottingham trains go from St Pancras, and are operated by Midland Mainline. Their 'Meridian' trains are nice, but the under-carriage engines make them a little noisy.

It's not rail travel I'm complaining about (it's my absolutely preferred method of transport), it's new trains like Virgin's Pendolinos (or the refurbished FGW HSTs) that I have a problem with. Passenger comfort has decreased, and they have a cramped feel: not so bad for the 1-2 hours journeys, but on the long-hauls to Scotland or the West Country, it's hardly encouraging you to use them.
