Just curious. Has anyone yet paid for a ticket where the taxes were more than the fare ?? </font>
A fair proportion of the low cost airlines ex UK - easyjet & ryanair etc - have many o/w fares below the UK & European departure tax levels. I always budget on aroun £11 tax ex an EU airport for an EU flight.

Ex UK this doubles to around £20 for non EU destinations.

For the record my wife and I flew return to Venice - Treviso last weekend on Ryanair ex Stansted for a grand total of £42 - of which £41.50 was tax. We spent more on getting to and from the two airports than we did the fare & tax.
