Well said. Good captains such as these are a large reason why I fly United. United has always been known as having the best pilot program, and it is one of the few things about United that hasn't changed over the years. Since we are sharing stories, my most memorable United pilot story has to have been from a few years back. We were on a 2-hour ground-stop in ORD, on the runway due to T'Storms. The pilots turned off the fastened seat-belt sign, opened the cock-pit door, and offered those interested to "come see the lightening show from the cock-pit." It was an A-320, and I was in seat 6C. I chatted with the pilots for virtually the entirety of the flight. The flight attendant came up, offered me a beer (no charge). The pilots were some of the best United has. I thought about how I might have reacted from a customer-service stand-point given a similar circumstance (I probably would have wanted to make myself as least visible as possible) -- and these pilots went above and beyond. To those in United that remind me why it is still -- despite all of the "enhancements" of the recent years -- my airline of choice, I give a whole-hearted thank you.
