So is it telling me I cannot earn miles on Air Canada? That's not right. I thought they were Star Alliance, no?
LH is part of Star Alliance, however when you clicked the mileage tabulation, it is calculating potential mile accrual for Miles & More members, which is the FFP of LH, OS, LX [Swiss] and LO. Obviously you can use (and get credit in) AP when flying with LH, but M&M has different mileage promotions and "standards" when awarding mileage for flown flights (ie. classes of travel flown vs. awarded mileage). Don't worry, you will still get your AP miles.
And QSG is right in saying that a RTW in C will be much cheaper than a simple return flight, however I do not think it will be as cheap as the Y flight you posted. Why not try calling AC? They can tell you the specifics. (of course, you could also call LH, I just assumed being an AC/AP customer you would want to talk to them
