I seen YYC-YUL-ZRH-BOM on ac.com as well, seemed a lot more expensive. What airlines is LX?

Sorry, I didn't know the BMI flight stopped. my folks took it last year, I figured it was still there.

I will be flying economy. Business class is something like $10,000 return, which is hard to do when I only make $3400/month.

I think I'll take the transatlantic flight, with Luft. I did some research and it appeared to be my best option. I went onto http://www.lufthansa-ca.com/

I did a "mock" booking. The dates I wish to travel for is
May7th and return May 16th.

They want $2443 return incl Tax ( Is this a good price by the way?)

when I do my booking I noticed a neet thing down there that says "Calculate the miles you will accrue for this journey. " So I clicked it and it says

"The miles for one or more of the airlines you specified could not be used. You can only use the mileage accrued for flights serviced by Lufthansa, Austrian Airlines Group and LOT Polish Airlines. So is it telling me I cannot earn miles on Air Canada? That's not right. I thought they were Star Alliance, no?
