to the OP, was your bag even locked? If you wanted to pack such expensive items into your bags, why didn't you just invest $5 to $10 in a TSA Safe Luggage locks? That may of prevented this mess, hell, even a simple dirt cheap zip ties may have prevented it... think about it... someone want to steal something from a bag and see some bags with zip ties, some bags with locks, and a bunch of bags with no locks or zip ties... which bags do you think they would go after? Obviously the one with easy access... if they wanted to steal something they would of went for the easiest and fastest possible way which was an unsecured bag. Now if the bags were secured with something and TSA went through the bag and forget to lock it... it would have to be negligence on their part considering they do have means to resecure the bag after they inspected it...aka those TSA zip ties. Now if the locking device (other than the TSA safe locks) were still in place... than that just proves that no one when into your bags in the first place. If it was a TSA lock, and its still there, than you know either no one went through it OR someone at TSA stole it since they would be the only one going into your bags and resecuring it. Basically what I'm getting at, if (and its a big if) you didn't even try to secure your bags with any forms of locks... its also partially your fault for your items to get stolen... REGARDLESS of what airline you fly.
I'm just gonna make the assumption here that your bags were secured because your a smart freqent travler that know to secure a bag with expensive stuff in it with some form of locking device and am truly sorry to hear about your loss.
